T.38

What does T.38 mean?

T.38 is a real-time communications protocol that was developed in 1998 for the purpose of transmitting of fax messages over IP networks (FoIP - Fax over IP). T.38 works by converting the original fax message into a format that is compatible with and therefore can be transported over an IP network and is now commonly used on most VoIP Gateways.
